Meet the founding mermaid
Angelia
Angelia founded Malaysia Mermaid Club to help more people discover professional PADI mermaid training. She is a PADI Mermaid Instructor Trainer—the highest level of PADI Mermaid professional—leading the way from beginner courses to instructor training. Her life in and around the water is backed by experience as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Freediver.
Beyond mermaiding, Angelia is a former Ms. Sabah pageant winner and a multiple award-winning professional photographer. She is married with two grown children and also runs a bakery specialising in cakes, Chinese New Year cookies and mooncakes.

A few practical details before you choose your first course or continue along the PADI pathway.
What is KL Mermaid Club?
We bring mermaids together through PADI training in Kuala Lumpur, PJ and around Malaysia. Our focus is safe technique, genuine skill development, community and marine conservation. KL Mermaid Club is wholly owned by Malaysia Mermaid Club, a certified PADI Mermaid Centre (store no. S29153).
Why choose PADI mermaid training?
PADI Mermaid courses use internationally recognised training standards. Instructors are trained to teach in pools and open water, manage risk and respond to emergencies. We do not take shortcuts with safety or skill development.
Where are courses held?
Our home base is Kuala Lumpur and PJ. Open-water training may be arranged at a lake in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan or Malacca, or at Tioman, Tenggol, Redang, the Perhentian Islands, Kota Kinabalu or Semporna. The destination depends on conditions and course requirements. Land and boat transfers, accommodation, taxes, island or marine-park fees, meals and other trip expenses may cost extra; these are confirmed before booking.
What courses are available?
Our current pathway includes Basic Mermaid, PADI Mermaid, PADI Advanced Mermaid and PADI Mermaid Instructor training. You can begin as a new mermaid and progress all the way to teaching professionally.
Are there course prerequisites?
Yes. Basic Mermaid comes before PADI Mermaid, and PADI Mermaid comes before Advanced Mermaid. Some levels can be completed as a combined pathway. PADI Advanced Mermaid certification is required before the Instructor course.
Will I receive learning materials?
Yes. After registration and payment, your PADI learning materials are sent through padi.com so you can create an account and complete the required eLearning.
What equipment is used?
Core equipment includes a mask and snorkel, bifins, suitable weights and a monofin or mermaid tail. Depending on the session, exposure protection, a mermaid outfit and a nose clip may also be recommended.
Is there paperwork before training?
Students complete the relevant medical, liability and safe-mermaiding documents before beginning their in-water training.
